    In 1968, Russian mathematicians including Nikolay Nikolayevich created a computer model of the motion for a cat. The computer was a BESM-4. The mathematicians created a program for solving the ordinary differential equations for this model. The Computer printed hundreds of frames on paper using different symbols that were then filmed all together in a sequence, creating the first computer animation of a character. It was a moving cat.

    A Computer Animated Hand
    A Computer Animated Hand was a short film in 1972 and was produced by Edwin Catmull and Fred Parke. The film was originally created for a school project. They created a model of Catmull's left hand. 350 triangles and polygons were drawn in ink on the model. The model was altered into a computer program that Catmull designed.
