  • PRE 1800'S

    PRE 1800'S
before captain cook arrived to asutralia,
foods native to australia was eaten by the indeginous people. they use things from the enviroment and things that they had to hunt/make themself such as lemon myrtle, bush tomato and barramundi smoked in paprbark. they didn't have cooking stoves and everything that we have now.
they had to make their own fire and cook the food with what they had around them. hygiene was something they lacked back in this time.

we have ealry european settlers who ate a diet largely around meat, with rations of flour, sugar, salt and tea but didn't have much fruit or vegetables in the diets. these diest weren't the best diets for nutrition but they had a high quantitiy of saturated aniaml fats, high in sugar and very little fibre. at this time, canning was a big thing on how food was procced and how it was kept back in this time when the europeans settled in asutralia.

at this time, this was when the gold rush was once brough to australia. this would bring many chinese from overseas to settle and have brought their wonderful new foods with them and yet also their amazing cooking skills to show some australians how its done. the chinese people quickly became market gardeners and green grocers and have adapted their foods to suit the anglo-saxon miners by adding meats into it.
