So, the king and queen seeked refuge with the Legislative Branch. But, the Legislative Branch decided to turn them in.

    The Legislative Branch was replaced with the National Assembly. The first act the implicated was to charge King Louis with treason. King Louis was convicted of the crime and later sent down the streets of Paris; only to be decapitated. Blood leaked through the streets, as did the rein of France's king.

    Maximillen Robespierre gained much of the control of the National Convention. His opinion of a correct government was elimination of all enemies of France. If anyone spoke out against the government, they were goiutineened. This led to many executions of the French people. It was estimated that 16,000 people were killed during the Reign of Terror.

    The Directory and the Rise of Napoleon was a result of a poorly governed people. After the fall of Robespierre, the government of France was very corrupt. The people were frustrated, along with the significant government leaders. Eventually, the government was taken over by a man named Napoleon Bonaparte. Napoleon ruled with harsh power and oppression.
