    These meeting were called to discuss how the financials of France would be dealt with. For weeks, the Estate-Generals sat and tried to decide if they should vote by estate or vote all together. These meeting came to an end when the Third Estate formed into a National Assembly againt the kings wishes and invinite the other estates to join.

    Source of InformationSource Link On June 20, 1789, the Third Estate was locked out of their regular meeting place where they planned ideas for their own constitution. The Third Estate met at a tennis court (original a squash court) to talk about the constitution. They vowed to meet there until they established a new constitution.

    The citizens stormed the Bastille to obtain arms of the city. They cut off guard's heads and carried them around on sticks in vistory. The citizen's wanted fairness and rights from the king.

People started mobilizing and armed themselves in self-denfense. People started attacking manner houses and the rumors were spreading from region to region. The Great Fear lasted until August 3rd, 1789.

They only made it as far as Varennes when King Louis the 16th and his family were arrested. They were spotted by someone that recognized them at their last stop while traveling.

Generals resgned over time and the French republic on the war. This war lasted 10 years and resulted in the fall of the monarchy.

The royal family put themselves under protection finding that they were arrested by the Legislated Assembly for the fear of further violence. While the hundreds of royalists were executed and many French men and women fleed to survive.

    Jan. 20, 1793, the National Convention sentenced Louis the 16th to death. The next day he was taken in a closed carriage to the guillotine were his head was severed in one stroke of the guillotine.

Within 9 months about 16,000 people were kiiled and Robespierre was arrested and guillotined the next day on July 27,1794 for proclaiming himself the leader of a new religion.

    [Robespierre](Notes) The Convention and Committee saw that Robespierre started to become a tyrant. Some of the Convection began to make a group to destroy Robespierre before he destroyed the French government. Robespierre and his followers were guilotined and the end of the Rein of Terror end.

    The Directory After the fall of Robespierre, The Directory became the new government of France.The new government had civil problems, money problems, and created problems of fairness. The government started to dissolve and ended Nov. 2,1795. A result was Napoleon becoming the next leader of the French Revolution.

    Napoleon prepared an army to return and to rule France while he was banished. Most people didn't think he would return but, he did and was ready to take action. Napoleon lost and was permanently exiled to an island were he died in 1821.
