    The US population incresed dramatically in the 1800's. It was said to have been from less deaths, rather than having more children born. In 1800, the US population was only at 5,308,483. By 1830 it was at a striking 12,860, 702, still rising.
  • Thomas Jefferson

    Thomas Jefferson
    Thomas Jefferson became president on March 4, 1801. Jefferson created the Louisiana Purchase which doubled the size of the US at that time. He was the third president of the United States, following John Adams.
  • Ohio is Admitted as a State

    Ohio is Admitted as a State
    On March 1, 1803, Ohio is admitted as US state, adding on to the new country. Ohio was the 17th state to be admitted into the United States. Shortly following after Tennesee.
  • James Madison

    James Madison
    James Madison was elected as president on March 4, 1809. He served from 1809 to 1817, and was the fourth US president. Madison wrote drafts for the constitution and helped with the Bill of Rights.
  • The War of 1812

    The war of 1812 began on June 18, 1812. It erupted between Great Britian and the United States. The war occured because the British violated US laws and rules and war broke out. The war ended on Febuary 18, 1815.
  • James Monroe

    On March 4, 1817 James Monroe was elected as president. He served from 1817 to 1825 and was the 5th US president. He was greatly known for creating the Monroe Doctrine which let Europeans know that the US would not tolerate further colonization.
  • Missouri Compromise

    On March 3, 1820, the Missouri Compromise was created. It set the rules that Maine was not to be a slave state, but Missouri was. It was set to balance the power that congress had between slave states and free states.
  • John Quincy Adams

    John Quincy Adams became president on March 4, 1825. He was best known for aquiring Flordia for the United States. Adams served as the sixth US president who formerly was the eighth United States secretary of state.
  • Andrew Jackson

    Andrew Jackson
    Andrew Jackson became president on March 4, 1829 and served as the seventh US president. He was most known for defeating the British in the Battle of New Orleans. Jackson was also an American soldier and statesman who served from 1829 to 1837.
  • US vs. Mexico

    US vs. Mexico
    From 1846 to 1848, the US and Mexico go to war over the undisputed lands such as Texas. America soon gains New Mexico, California, and parts of Northern Mexico by winning the war. After Mexico looses, the US now has roughly 31 states.
