Cancer is something that has surprisingly been around for some time, like sine 2500 B.C! But written records or descriptions of cancer are from the 1600 B.C They used procedures to remove breast tumors by cauterization. -

Smallpox is a deadly disease that occurs because of variola virus. Again the first time this disease has been recorded was in 1157 B.C by the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses V, thousands of years ago. Currently there are no signs of Smallpox around. -

Anesthesia
Anesthesia is a state where someone is temporarily with the loss of no awareness;Coma;Unconscious. This is used in surgeries and dentistry. Some patients have the possibility of having analgesia, paralysis, amnesia, or unconsciousness. William T. G. Morton is the inventor or creator of anesthesia, it really does help patients and without it, it would have been WAY more difficult to do surgeries. -
Bloodletting
Bloodletting was a type of treatment barber-surgeons performed to ¨Cure¨ to ¨Balance out the liquids in the human body by extracting blood¨ It was such a popular treatment that many didnt stop bleeding until they fell very ill. They STILL continued to do this even after patients started to decline. -
Tuskegee Syphilis Study
The Tuskegee Syphilis Study was about about untreated African American Men who had the disease known as ¨Syphilis.¨ It was an experiment to observe about this disease that is found in sexual activity and can be found in both men and woman. But this study was about men. This was a TERRIBLE study because back in the day most doctors suggested using penicillin as a cure but instead they left these innocent men untreated and just gave them placebos. -
Poliomyelitis/Polio
Poliomyelitis or Polio is a very contagious,unpredictable viral infection that invades you body and infects your brain or spinal cord causing you to be paralyzed,deformed or can even kill you. And many have died in 1950, about 32,00 children have been afflicted by this virus. And another outbreak occurred in 1952. 58,00 Children had been infected but 1,400 had been killed. Though the first outbreak of polio happened in 1894. This is a very deadly infectious disease. -

The March of dimes was founded in January 1st 1938. 100 million people participated in this charity that specifically targeted finding a cure for polio -

This is the day that the Salk Vaccine had proven that it had worked to prevent Polio. -
Human-to-Human Transplant
Dr Chris Barnard was the first to perform the world's first human heart transplant. A heart transplant is surgical transplant procedure performed on patients with end-stage heart failure when other procedures have failed. (Cited from wikipedia) In summary it means that when other options have failed to treat someones heart they have to get another and have it surgically put into someone. And Dr.Barnard was the first to successfully accomplish this task. -

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome also known as SARS was an epidemic that occurred in 2003. It took about 800 innocent lives.
SARS is a infectious respiratory disease that attacks the lungs. -
Synthetic Blood
Synthetic Blood was created for people who have sickle cell (I know a friend who actually has sickle cell) Sickle cell is disease when someone has crescent shaped cells meaning that that the cells die young and early with a shortage on the remaining healthy red cells. Synthetic Blood helps this by working like an artificial limb kind of. Patients are given small amounts of Synthetic Blood and the goals is to reproduce healthy red blood cells. -
Tricorder
Tricorder was a fictional gadget in the movie ¨Star Trek¨ used by Dr.McCoy to record and relay medical information. And all of that might become a reality. With this we have the hope and possibilty to asses and manage healthy on out own!
