    Berlin blockade
    Joseph Stalin put pressure on the west by blocking all land routes to berlin. He hoped to force western powers out of west berlin. The western powers started flying their fuel and food into berlin to keep the city operating.
    Pilots from USA and Britan flew everything they thought was needed in west berlin. It ran from May1948 to March 1949 supplying aprox 13 000 tonnes a day.

    Stalin realised that western powers were not giving upwest berlin so he decided to call the berlin blockade off on May 12th 1949. The Blockade ran for aprox 11 months, American and british pilots flew in vital supplies to west berlin in this time.
