  • Truman Doctrine

    Truman Doctrine
In an effort to contain communism, Truman requested $400 million from Congress to aid Greece and Turkey. The Domino Theory was used to justify this intervention, as it states if one country became communist, others would follow and all would eventually fall. By providing aid to these countries, Truman hoped to prevent this.
GASPIRE: Economic is shown here because Truman believed if he helped other countries by supporting them with money, they wouldn't feel as influenced to fall under communism.
