    It has influenced the direction of war because Japan bombed the harbor and killed/injured many men, destroyed many ships and planes which resulted in America wanting payback so they joined into WW2. - The bombing was the deciding moment for america to join the war because many other things got them close to wanting to join it but not close enough to join it.

    "Infamy speech" to the american citizens, informing them that this happened while the US was in the midst of talks to keep peace. That same day America entered into WW2.
