  • The Intolerable Acts

    King George III and Parliament became angry when they heard about the Boston Tea party. Parliament had passed four laws that the colonist found unnecessary and rude. Parliament had passed the Boston Port Act, Administration of Justice Act, Quartering Act, and the Quebec Act. These acts where passed to punish the colonies for throwing over tea.
  • First Continental Congress

    Each Colonies leaders, Except for Georgia, met up in Philadelphia to discuss about the intolerable acts. John Adams, George Washington, Samuel Adams and Patrick Henry were also involved in the discussion. The First Continental Congress didn't mention about wanting independence but did say that they wanted someone to represent them in Parliament.
  • Lexington and Concord

    This was the first battle to official start the American Revolution. British Soldiers were sent into Concord and Lexington to capture the rebel leaders, Samuel Adams and John Hancock. Paul Revere had warned the colonist that the British were coming and the rebel leaders managed to escape. A shot was fired and it became known as the "The shot heard around the world." The redcoats had to retreat and colonist won the battle.
  • Second Continental Congress

    Benjamin Franklin, John Hancock, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and the rest of the colonies representatives met in Philadelphia for the Continent Congress. They discussed what was going to be done and soon came to an agreement that they will need to get a military defense ready. George Washington became the commander in chief to lead the Continent Army.
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    The British needed to get control of the Boston Harbor. The British thought they would be able to do that by getting control of the Bunker hill. The British found the militia there, they though it would be easy to defeat the colonists. They began a battle but the colonist had to retreat due to the need for more ammo. Britain won that battle.
  • The Olive Branch Petition

    The Olive was the final attempt to stop a war from happening between the Colonies and Great Britain. The colonies told Britain they would stay loyal to them but they wanted to have their human rights.
  • Publication of Common Sense

    Thomas Paine had called King George III a royal brute and that he didn't deserve the colonies respect. Paine encouraged the colonist to break free from Britain's power. He told the colonist that they had the power to start a new world.
  • The Declaration of Independence

    After editing and discussing the Declaration of Independence was finally approved on July the 4th. The document had declared the the freedom from Great Britain.
  • Battles of Trenton and Princeton

    After having so many fails, George Washington and the continent army crossed the icy Delaware into Trenton. Washington's Troops fought the Hessians but had to retreat. The battle of Princeton was when Washington and his army won against British soldiers. He had sneaked up on the British. Britain didn't expect that and surrender.
  • Battle of Saratoga

    The battle of Saratoga was known as the turning point in the American Revolution. The British and German troops surrender to the Americans. The Americans had won.
  • Valley Forge

    Washington and his troops settled there and faced a cold winter. Half of the men didn't have shoes and disease spread rapidly. Small pox was the main disease that spread,
  • Battle of Yorktown

    The Yorktown battle was the last major battle for the American Revolution. It took place in Virginia, United States. The British Surrender and the colonist won.
  • The Treaty of Paris

    The British couldn't keep up with the battles, so they sent people to France to workout a treaty. Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, and John Jay represented the Colonies. Once the treaty was signed, it was the end of the war and the Colonies got there freedom.
