Why Move?
The farming industry is really bad in Ireland and it not making me any money, all I am doing is losing money so I have two choices either move to more fertile land or move to America! -
Going to America
I have now made my choice. Because of the potatoes starting to grow a fungi inside of them all the potato farmers are going out of business and everyone is starting to move to America. Including me. -
Ellis Island
After few weeks of being on a crouded dirty boat, I have made it to Ellis Island where people check to see if I have somthing wrong with me. And ask me if I am coming for land or family. -
The Modern World
Another reason that I chose to go is because that I wanted to be in the modern world that lots of people wanted to be in, I wanted to be in the world that I know whats happining not like in Ireland not knowing whats happining across the ocean. -
Religion
The religion that I was practicing in Ireland was not allowed so I had to practice and pray secretly while others were distrcated doing something else. But in America it is allowed and I know there is going to be churches all around for us! -
My Reason To Move West
My reason to move west is that I got a job as a newpaper man in Nebraska! I already knew I would love that I would be able to be in the "modern world" and now I get to be apart of it. Also it was the only job I could find that accepts Irish. -
HomeStead act!
The Home Stead act is giving me 150 free acers of land for me to do with it! I am going to make a farm when I get anough money and the hardest part about this is that its in Nebraska so I am not sure how to get there. -
On the Wagon
I am on the wagon to Nebraska to get my job as a Newspaper man and I am guessing that it will take around 2 weeks for me to get there. I plan on making a farm out of the 150 acers that I get and unlike Ireland, making profit out of the farm. -
First day on the job
The first day of my newpaper job went really well! the People were very nice to me and when I got there they all greeted me with a hand shake. this job wont get me alot of money but after a few years of hard work I think it will pay off. -
Potato Farm Success!
After Years of hard work it had payed off. I made my own farm in march and I can already see the potatoes growing! last year I made a 50$ profit. This trip was more worth it than anything else I could've done in my life.
