  • Little House Series

    Little House Series
I read this whole series at least twice! I still would love to "live off the land" with no electricity, having to do everyign physically, etc. Loved them!
  • Cheaper by the Dozen

    Cheaper by the Dozen
While I enjoyed the story, I know that I was most affected by the dad's job which was to find ways to do everyday activities in a more efficient manner I have NEVER stopped trying to do the same since. PS The movies are not really like the book!
  • The Girl Who Owned a City

The Girl Who Owned a City
Dystopia!! This, is, I believe, my first dystopian novel and I haven't stopped loving them. I wanted to be this girl!

    Dystopia

Awesome genre. Others I have read include The Giver, Hunger Games Trilogy, Unwind Trilogy, Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451, 1984, Divergent series (currently reading), Some of these were orginally listed as science fiction. With so many novels being written about dystopian societies, the new offshoot genre was created.
  • Spy Novels: Harriet the Spy

    Spy Novels: Harriet the Spy
The beginning of my love of spy stories- probably because they are a lot ilke mysteries!
  • Anne Frank: Diary of a Young Girl

Anne Frank: Diary of a Young Girl
I hated this book in 8th grade. It was one of the few Holocaust books available at the time. It had recently come out and "was the book to read". I just didn't like the style. Because of that, I didn't read another for years.
  • Great Expectations

    Great Expectations
I had to read this book in 9th grade. I did not like it. Now, as a result, I have no desire to ever pick up another book by Dickens. This is too bad since I hear he's a great author. :)
  • Alas, Babylon

    Alas, Babylon
I had to read this in 10th grade for English class. I still loved it. Another version of dystopia then called post-apocalyptic. It was a story about how the world would be after a nuclear war. This was a reality for me since the cold war was still going on.

At first, there wasn't much avaialbe. People were not ready to share their stories. Diary of Anne Frank was the first one I read and I didn't like it. It was many years before I started again. Now I like them and find them ineresting. They are some of the only non-fiction I read
