    Texas Instruments created the first integrated computer circuit for the U.S. Air Force in 1961.
  • Jackie Robinson - First African American Elected to Baseball's Hall of Fame

    On January 24th in 1962, Jackie Robinson was the 1st African American to be elected to the Baseball's Hall of Fame. This changed the United States and Texas. This stirred up sport entertainment in the whole country, especially African Americans.

    The Manned Spacecraft Center opened the 27th of September in the year 1963 at Clear Lake, near Houston.
  • Civil Rights Act of 1964 (ended segregation)

    The Civil Rights Act of 1964 ended segregation for African Americans from the white people. Many people, including Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks.

    The Voting Rights Act of 1965 outlawed discrimination in voting practices.

    Barbara Jordan was the first African American woman to win a seat in the State Senate. She believed in the Civil Rights movement.

    The Mexican American Youth Organization was formed in San Antonio, Texas, in 1967. It was formed to justify and unite young Mexican Americans. They were part of and believed that the Civil Rights Movement was a moral and necessary step towrd freedom of rights for their race and others.
