This means that if a railroad was found charging anything other than its published rates they would be faced with a big fine. The railroad companies liked this act because they were able to save money, plus it reduced rate competition, kept prices reasonable and created higher freight rates everywhere.

This act was first concerned with ensuring products were labeled correctly. Moving forward, later efforts were made to outlaw certain products that were not safe or not effective.

    Roosevelt signed the American Antiquities Act that transferred the Yosemite Valley back under federal protection and control. The park had many majestic natural wonders that came with it and Theodore fell in love with it at first sight and wanted to protect it.
