When you first think of a wheel what do you think of? Perhaps the shining new rim of a new car? Or maybe of that Yamaha you just saw speeding down the freeway? Well actually the wheel was first created to assist potters in their work. Nowadays we use wheels for construction, manufacturing, transportation, and even sometimes in hospitals! -

The Screw
The screw is used for many different things and purposes. First created 400bc,screw was originally used in wine and oil presses. However as modern technology advanced we now use screws for construction, mixing substances poking holes and even sometimes to chisel! -

Gunpowder
Gunpowder was initially a accidental experiment. China was the original founder of gunpowder. Although a huge discovery, China did not tell people about its existence until a couple hundred years later. Gunpowder is most often used in fireworks not guns like most people believe although weapons can be powered with gunpowder. -

Paper money
Paper money was definitely not an original idea and it took many years to perfect. Paper money was created as a more reliable and lighter currency. In the original 13 states each state had a different design on their bill making it completely worthless in other states, there was also no way to exchange money. Centuries later we have perfected paper money everywhere. -

Printing press
The printing press was not a accident nor does it have multiple uses. The printing press was created to help increase the rate in which gossip could be spread. Before the printing press, people would have to hand write everything out and then copy it over and over until they were satisfied with their amount. The printing press also allowed room for small mistakes seeing as if a mistake is made on a paper, hours would not have to be spent rewriting the entire paper. -
Telephone
The telephone was first created to assist in military communication. The telephone took many years to perfect, and by that time it was open to the public. Only recently we have developed touch screens, built in internet, and cameras. -
Electricity
Seeing as electricity is a natural element, it can not be created, however Benjamin Franklin first discovered it. It was first used to power light-bulbs to downsize the amount of fires caused by candles. Now we have developed electric cars, planes, houses, and in some cases even limbs! -
Automobile
The automobile was created for a faster means of transportation. Before automobiles horses and buggies were used for transportation. This took up to 3 times as long and was often dangerous. Today we use automobiles as military weapons, entertainment, transportation, and sometimes even as temporary or short term houses. -
Air conditioning
Air conditioning was created shortly before the Great Depression. Though during the great depression air condition companies went out of business due to the fact that many people could not afford food much less air conditioning! We currently use air conditioning to both cool down and heat up. -
Airplanes
Airplanes were also created for war efforts, specifically WW1. They were used as scout planes, then later on as bombers, terrorist targets, and now eventually today to transport. A plane can cover long distances in half the time with up to 5 times as many people. -
The computer
The computer is a huge part of life. Education, work, military, government, protection and so much more all use computers. When computers were created they were at first considered to be a waste of time and money. They were also a supposed accident. However now we not only that the computer was a brilliant spur of a young man, but also that it proved to be of the utmost importance. -
Semiconductors
Semiconductors are used for determining large amounts of radioactivity. They can also be used to conduct small amounts of electricity. -
Virtual reality wear
Virtual reality wear or VR was created as a means of military testing. Most commonly used to give new pilot recruits a small idea of what actually flying a fighter plane was like. Later some ambitious young man re-created VR and patented it, realizing VR to the public. Though our military as well as others around the world, still uses VR to give pilots a decently look at reality, it is mostly used for a life action sort of entertainment. -
Video games
Video games were created to give young men and women temporary entertainment. However as technology advanced, video games advanced with them. Starting with pixelated games that were as simple as moving a character of some sorts to the designated area, all the way to 3D games that actually create problems and mysteries for the player to solve. As well as allowing the player to inter act with others all around the world, with different, large age differences nationalities, and even languages! -
The GPS
GPS stands for Global Positioning System, so the use is hopefully clear. The GPS was created to help people everywhere to get to their destination faster and much more efficiently. People of all nationalities are able to get around easier and wit less risk of getting los with the GPS. -
Hybrid vehicle
Hybrid vehicles utilizes more than one form of on board energy to achieve propulsion. This means that they are a sort of smash between a electric car and a that consumes gas. It was created to give the driver a choice as to whether they wanted to fuel up on gas or with electricity. The initial life of the car is greater than the average gas or electric car. They are faster, cheaper, and much more efficient than the average one board energy car. -
The drone
The drone is one of the many other things that were first created for military use. When the drone was first released, people did not want to invest in it. They thought that they would be unreliable and breakdown in the middle of using them. The cameras later added just gave more to that suspicion. Although as the military continued to use drones and technology advanced people decided to take a risk. Thanks to new advances, the drone comes in all shapes and sizes.
