Here, we analysed the teaser trailer "Prisoner" as we felt that this type of film represented the type of film that we wanted to create, in terms of its genre and plot. -
Title 1
We first see the company idents for the production companies that were involved in creating the film. They appeared during the first second of the teaser trailer. -
Title 2
At 00:09, the first title is featured in the teaser trailer. It is giving a narrators point of view in textual form. It says "from a moment a child goes missing". This line is making the audience wanting to know what the second half of the sentence is, thus making you want to watch more. The title reflects on the series of shots that have just shown the audience shots of children playing. -
Title 3
This title is following on from the one before and comes in at 00:15. It says "The police have 168 hours to find them". The gap between this title and the one before allows the trailer to add context between these two titles. The series of shots that occur between these two titles shows adults (probably the children's parents) looking for the children. -
Title 4
There is now a stop-watch display that can be seen at 00:19. It implies to the audience that there is now a count down to the deadline of finding the lost children. The audience is now understanding that these children may have been taken suggesting kidnapping or crimes relating. -
Title 5
There is now another stop-watch title coming in at 00:22s. The time has increased suggesting a sense of panic, tension and desperation for the parents as they continue to search for their children. -
Title 6
With the third entry of the stop-watch title, it is clear that there is now a theme running through this trailer, and that is that there is a sense of urgency to find these children. That theme is reflected using the stop-watch as a way of showing that there is a deadline to be met in order to save the missing children. -
Title 7
The size of the stop-watch title increases in proportion in the increase in time. There are aggressive action shots between the titles creating a tension for the audience as they approach near to the end of the count down. -
Title 8
The release date is seen at 00:44s which is placed towards the end of the teaser trailer. -
Title 9-11
Spanning over 00:44-00:49s, the titles are broken up into singular words with a noticeably quickened pace to the transitions of shots. This broken up style of titles is meant to create a sense a disfunction and mayhem towards the audience as the situation that these characters are in is distressing and intentionally uncomfortable to watch. -
Title 12
The list of actor/actresses are shown at 00:51s alongside with their accomplishments and awards. The reason for this is that each actor/actress carries with them their own fan base. By showing the actors name, it attracts fans that follow their films. From a neutral perspective, by seeing the awards that the actors/actress has won, it may entice viewers as they will believe that they will be watching a higher standard of film. -
Tilte 13
Here is the teaser trailer's title at 00:57s. The shot lasts for a prolonged length of time in comparison to the quick pace of the teaser trailer. The title appears in a different font and with a different background to the previous titles, implying its importance as it must make the biggest impact. -
Title 14
Here is the final title, telling the audience of the release date of the trailer, creating anticipation for film.
