Becky Grows Up

  • 6th Grade Reading Level

When in 2nd grade, Becky is told she is at a 6th grade reading level and excelling in school. In Erikson's fourth stage, industry vs. inferiority, the crisis is a sense of pride by being above average, or inferiority by falling below above average
  • Move or Don't

Becky is faced with the choice of moving states to get married or stay at a school far away from her fiance. In Erikson's fifth stage, intimacy vs. isolation, Becky is faced with a choice to move to a new state to be with her fiance and marry (intimacy) or stay where she was born and be alone in sorts (isolation)
  • Children

Becky finds herself saddened she didn't have children when she was younger, so she volunteers her time with after school programs. In Erikson's sixth stage, generativity vs. stagnation, Becky regrets not having children. Rather than experience stagnation, she commits to helping the next generation (generativity).
