Campaigning
Presidential candidate must be at least 35 years old, born in America, and has lived in the U.S.A. for at least 14 years before running. Presidents can only hold their position for two terms. For the winning candidate, the Campaign message is refined and then becomes the canidate's political agenda in office. They also fundraise money for their presidential campaign. -
Caucus
Caucuses are meetings, open to all registered voters of the party, where delegates to the party's national convention are selected. When the caucus begins, the voters divide themselves into groups according to the candidate they support. The undecided voters create their own group and prepare to be courted by supporters of other candidates. Group members want as many members as possible. -
Primaries
Just like in general elections, voting is done through a secret ballot. Voters may choose from among all registered candidates. There are two types of primaries, closed and open. In a closed primary, voters can vote only in the primary of the political party in which they registered. In an open primary, registered voters can vote either party, but are allowed to vote in only one primary. Closed primaries are the most popular within states. -
National Convention
Once the primaries and caucuses have finished, the parties have finalized their decision and chosen a Presidential nominee to run on behalf of their party. This is also when the nominee selects their presidential candidate. Usually a speech is given presenting the official presidential candidate for a poltical party. -
Presidential Debates
Presidential candidates present their ideals on various topics in order to spike appeal towards American's vote. -
Election Day
When each party is represented by one candidate, the general election process begins. Campaigning continues on until November, when people choose a candidate and cast their vote. -
Electoral College
President is determined on on this day after all ballots have been cast, electoral college determines the winner by checking and collecting the electoral votes by congress.
