  • Least Restrictive Environment

    This protocol states that children with disabilities should interact as much as possible with children without disabilities.
  • Brown v. Board of Education

    The court case that changed schools, it is the court case that made it to where all children no matter the race or gender would go to the same school.
  • Elementary and Secondary Education Act

    This Great Society Program is helping the less fortunate with their education resources. This program really tries to focus on the families with low-income, particularly rural, Native Americans, neglected, migrant, homeless, and English language limited families.
  • Individual Education Plan

    This plan makes sure that all students including ones with disabilities still get the same opportunities as others. It also does not matter what their disabilities may be, they still get a fair chance at everything in school.
  • Honig v. Doe

    This case was over a California school that has suspended a student for disturbing a class, but he was disturbing the class because of his disability which had violated the Education for All Handicapped Children Act. With that the court came to the conclusion that if the school does not provide for students with disabilities then the state must.
  • American's with Disability Act

    This act prohibits discrimination against people with disabilities. All of these areas include employment, transportation, public accommodations, communications, and access to state and local government programs and services.
  • Individuals with Disabilities Education

    This is a federal law that lays out children's rights in special education in schools. This law is presented to families who are thought of to having disabilities and are not charged with a fee for helping that child.
  • No Child Left Behind

    This event began requiring the progress of students individually and in groups, the reporting it to the measurements back to the parents. These measurements must be collected in a set amount of time.
  • Response to Intervention

    This is a process that helps children that are struggling in a situation or lesson. All teachers use it to ensure that the children in their class will succeed.
  • Common Core State Standards

    This is an initiative for grades K-12 and to make sure they know the ELA and the mathematics for that year, at the end of each year.
