    1044- Treaty established with Tangut Rulers in Western Xia

    Similarly with the situation that the Song Dynasty had with the Jin Empire, the Song made a treaty with Western Xia to give them a great amount of money and resources in order to keep the people of the Western Xia on the border and not invade. Although the Song was more progressed and more wealthy than the Xia, they lacked the determination and ability to conquer the Xia because of their developed pacifistic nature.

    1069- Wang Anshi Becomes Emperor

    Wang Anshi was an important emperor due to the fact that he attempted to make several political reforms in an attempt to make the Southern Song Dynasty stronger and more united. However these attempts at reform failed and led to peasants thrown deeper into poverty and ready to rebel against the central government. Wang Anshi wanted to establish a perfect self-perpetuating system by putting his own people into positions of power in order to create reforms where people were more limited and equal.

    1127- The Southern Song Dynasty Is Formed

    Sung Gao Zong establishes the Southern Song Dynasty after the Jin Dyansty invades the northern Song Dynasty and forces them into the south. Gao Zong originally held power within the Northern Dynasty, however he decided to flee away from the battle and reestablish his power in the south. He was rather pacifistic and did not attempt to fight the Jin Dynasty.

    Over 70 years after the invasion of Northern Song by the Jin Dynasty, the people of Southern Song decide to team up with the Mongols in order to defeat the Jin Empire to the north.   • Founding Of the Qidan People

    The Qidan were a group of people from Mongolia who would later invade the Northern song dynasty. In order to prevent further expansion and war, the leader of the Song Dynasty gave the Qidan a great deal of money and resources in order to keep the peace. The Qidan people maintained the empire for over 200 years in north China after they began. They were also the first alien rulers of China after they took the area of North Song in 916.
