Some stuff in here

  • MINITAB created

In order to make statistics more interesting and meaningful to their introductory-level students, three Penn State faculty members – Barbara F. Ryan, Thomas J. Ryan, and Brian L. Joiner – begin to develop a computer package that would eliminate the need to spend a great deal of time doing tedious calculations on an electronic calculator. Their efforts result in MINITAB, a program that students were able to learn in less than an hour.
  • Publication of the "MINITAB Student Handbook"

Duxbury Press publishes the “MINITAB Student Handbook,” a supplementary textbook authored by Drs. Ryan, Joiner, and Ryan that, for the first time, shows instructors how to integrate the use of computers and computer software into their introductory statistics courses.
