    Since Zenhicihi knew that there was a possibility of his family coming back to nothing once the internment period was over, he decided to lease seven acres of land from Carl Sr. Carl Sr. was to take care of the seven acres until Zenhichi's return and Zenchici would send him payments.

    Carl Sr. dies of a heart attack and Etta consequently sells their land, including the seven acres that Carl leased to Zenhichi. She did not want to take on the responsibility of cultivating the farm because she was old and weak and she claims that Zenhichi never finished making his payments.

    Once Kabuo returns home from the war, he decides to confront Etta about the land she was supposed to hand over to his family. Again, she denies any responsibility over the land and says it's not her problem since she did not do anything illegal. Kabuo responds by saying, "You haven't done anything illegal. Wrong is a different matter."

    Ole Jurgenson is the man who purchased the land from Etta Heine back in 1944. Ten years later he decides to sell the land. Once he discovers that the land is up for sale, Kabuo rushes to Ole's to purchase his seven acres back, but Carl Jr. has beat him to the punch.
  • Coincidence or Not?

    A week after Carl Jr. purchases the seven acres from Ole, he is found dead on his boat.
