Skunk Decomposition

  • Day 1

    Entomology: There were a bunch of flies no maggots
    Meteorologist: Temp: 78 Fahrenheit, Windy and Cloudy 16mph, 75% Humidity
    Skeletal: No skeletal remains yet, it is just filled with maggots eating at the flesh
    Decomposition: Nothing looks decomposed
  • Day 3

    Entomology: Maggots have flooded the skunk, each being around .5cm. Long
    Meteorologist: 75 degrees Fahrenheit, with rain just an hour or 2 ago
    Skeletal: We can see the skull along with the leg bones
    Decomposition: Flesh is starting to go away, and the specimen is starting to look skinny
  • Day 7

    Entomology: There are no maggots, most likely have eggs inside the specimen waiting to be hatched
    Meteorologist: 82 degrees Fahrenheit
    Skeletal: A lot of the bones looked crushed in, but it looks like the legs are fine.
    Decomposition: The only feature that is able to be
    identifiable is now really the tail.
  • Day 9

    Meteorologist: 62 degrees F, Raining all day and the night before. 1 inch of rain
  • Day 11

    Day 11
    Meteorologist: 55 degrees F, Cloudy, 70% Humidity, Winds 13mph
    Decomposition: There doesn’t seem to be anything left to decompose, because it looks the exact same as it did on ⅚
    Skeletal: Bones starting to show as fur/skin decays, bones of the hand and what seems to be the body or legs can be visibly seen.
    Entomology: No bugs were visable besides flies. The maggots were gone
  • Day 14

    Meteorologist: 83 F, Hot & Partly Cloudy
    Skeletal - Remains of the hands can be seen, the phalanges are visible as well as their feet bones are visible, but the body is still covered by fur.

    Decomposition: The bones are completely visible,
    No bugs were visible.
