  • THE GLORY OF ANCIENT ROME

    Have you ever heard someone say, "All roads lead to Rome." OR "Rome was not built in a day"? These expressions refer to the Roman Empire. At its pead, the Roman Empire covered a huge area and Romans build amgnificent cities and structures. About 50,000 miles or hard-surfaced roads linkd the cities of the Roman Empire. The Roman system of roads was one of the most outstanding transportation networks ever built. Constructed more than 2,000 years ago, any of these rads are still in use today.

    The collapse of the Roman Empire in wester Europe led to a time of enucertainty and confusion.
  • GLORIES OF THE RENAISSANCE

    Colombus's search for a new route to the riches of the East was only one example of the movement sweeping Europe.. The changes begain in Italy in the 1300s and spread over the continent. Traders bought and sold goods across the region. The rich grew even richer. They had the rime to enjoy art and learning - and the mony to support artists and scholars. This period is called the RENAISSANCE. The RENAISSANCE reached it's peak in the 1500s.
  • More Trade, Stronger Rulers

    During the Renaissance, traders began to travel more often out side of Europe . In the 1400s, Portuguese explorers traveled along the western coast of Africa. There they trade in gold, ivory and slaves. This trade was very profitable. Some Portuguese traders traveled as far east as the Indian Ocean.
  • REVOLUTIONS IN GOVERNMENT

    The 1600s and 1700s are often called the Age of Revolution. A revolution is afar-reaching change. European thgouht, beliefs and ways of life all changed. This period was the beginning of the modern age of science and democracy that we know today.
