The protagonist of the story woke up in a strange place. He was in a cell, in Toledo. The torturers wanted to kill him. And the Sharp blade of a pendulum would do it. He also saw rats running over his hand. -

He had an idea to try to scape. He reached out his hand and took some of the meat that were in a close table. Rats came to eat that meat, so they also were eating the rope. But the huge blade frightened the rats and they run away. The protagonist thought that his head would be cut very soon. -

He smelt something. It was the smell of hot hiron. The air was really hot so he closed his eyes and he thought that this was his end. But suddenly he hear voices. People were shooting. French soldiers had captured the city of Toledo and all the prisoners were free. -

The narrator's friend moved to an island on the south Carolina coast he lives in a cabin with his slave. the narrator visits him and talks to him about a beetle and the friend says it's not that and he'll seretira with his role and wants to throw it into the fire but in the end he doesn't -

Second visit. The narrator vuleves to visit them and realizes that his friend's slave is concerned that he is wandering around the island and writing strange calculations. the narrator thinks he's sick but he's not. -

They walk to a large tree, where LeGrand pulls out the golden beetle from which he drew a drawing at the beginning of the story. He gives the beetle, which is attached to a rope, to Jupiter. then makes jupiter go up and find the skull there. LeGrand is remeasured. This time, the place where they dig ends up full of gold coins and colorful jewels, as well as some decaying skeletons. -

So in response Valdemar’s mouth and eyes opened to form a horrible vision, and his body no longer appears alive, bit his tongue keep moving. With a rough, broken voice, Valdemar says he was sleeping but now he is dead. -

The protagonist went to the house of an old friend who had asked him for help because he was sick. When he arrived, he did not recognize his friend, he had changed a lot. Roderick introduced him to Madeline, his sister, who was suffering from an illness. But she did not respond. -

Everything was being okey, but Madeline didn’t appear anymore. One day, Usher said that his sister was dead. He asked for help. He wanted to lied her in that house. The protagonist didn’t ask, and she went to help with the body. Madeline was not breathing and her heart was not beating. But Madeline's body was not cold. She was in a room under the house. From that moment, Roderick Usher never rested. -

One day the protagonist heard strange sounds. Madeline had broken out of her coffin! She had torn her hands and her face. There was blood on her fingers, her face and her dress. Slowly, Roderick went toward her. And she closed her blood-red arms around his body. Roderick gave a terrible scream and fell to the floor. Madeline fell with him. They were both dead. The protagonist ran from the terrible House of Usher. -

The protagonist of the story feels a big curiosity of the maelstrom, which is a whirlpool. So he went to Norway, where they appears. There, he found a guide who will show him the maelstrom. The guide took him to the top of a mountain. the sea began to change and the maelstrom began to be seen. The guide seemed to fear it. He told that this two island that the protagonist was seen, are inhabited, but a lot of fisher are always there, instead of the risk. -

The guide said that once, a man enter into the maelstrom and he came alive. But for the protagonist that was imposible. The guide started to tell a story about when he was young, and he fall down into the maelstrom. He thought he was going to die with her brothers, but he left the maelstrom after a few hours, without his brothers. -

The guide was the maelstrom surviver. But something happened. when it came out, no one recognized it. He had aged more than 20 years in a few moments. The guide was the man who survived the maelstrom, but the price was high. -
The masque of the read death (event one)
A terrible disease came to a country, the Read Death. The prince of the kingdom decided to lock himself in his castle together with the most important people, surrounded by food and drink. No one could leave or enter. He thought that this way he would protect himself from the disease. -

The prince organized a great mask party. He did not want anyone to talk about the disease. There were seven special rooms. Each with a different light, but no one entered the red. When chimes sounded, everyone was silent. -

Everything seemed correct, until a new guest appeared. No one knew who it was. And most importantly, how it had slipped in if all the doors were closed. His mask was very scary. The prince said: kill him! The prince took a knife and went from room to room chasing him. Until they reached the red room.The stranger was not wearing a mask! The knife fell from his hand. The prince fell onto the ground in front of the clock. He was dead. Then, everybody died. -
The oblong box (event one)
The protagonist was in Charleston, and he had to go to New York in a ship. So he signed up for a list so that when a boat was available, they would call him. A ship was due to depart on June 15. The protagonist wanted to see the passenger list to know if he knew someone, and he saw the name of a friend from the university. They could talk and catch up. -
The oblong box (event two)
When he got to the boat and saw it, they talked. Cornelius was very rude. He was traveling with his wife and two sisters, but he had booked 3 cabins, which was strange. He was carrying a large box that smelled bad. The passengers thought they were very expensive old paintings. Cornelius did not want to speak to the protagonist, but he told him that he had discovered what was in the box. Cornelius had fainted. -
The oblong box (event three)
Suddenly, the ship hit some of the sharp black rocks on the coastline and it started to sink. The protagonist was in a rowboat with Cornelius’s sisters and more people. But Cornelius wasn’t there. He was with his box, and he wasn’t going to leave it. His box was more important than is life. The box and Cornelius fell into the sea, and the other passengers were safe. A month later the protagonist met the captain again, and he told him that the body of Cornelius’s wife was in that box.
