    A war between France and Britain, that was specifically fought in North America; Britain gained lots of North American territory from it. The Native Americans backed the French, but in the end still lost; the Treaty of Paris ended the larger imperial war.

    In 1763 the Treaty of Paris was signed, officially ending the French & Indian War fought between France and Great Britain.
  • Formation of Sons of Liberty

    Sons of Liberty was a rebellion group formed by European colonists to fight against British rule and taxation. This group became the main driving force behind the fight against the Stamp Act.

    On March 22, the British Parliament imposed a tax that required payment on every piece of paper they used. The money collected was used to help the cost of protecting the American frontier.

    On June 21, 1788 the Constitution was ratified. New Hampshire was the 9th state to ratify the Constitution; it took the first 9 states 10 months to ratify it.
  • Bill of Rights Adopted

    Bill of Rights Adopted
    On September 25, 1789 Congress added 12 proposed amendments to the Constitution. The 3rd-12th ones were adopted and became effective as the U.S. Bill of Rights.
