Infancy
Sam age 1 month survived his in utero growth and is now an infant. In Erikson's first stage of life, Trust VS Mistrust, Sam will spend his time being loved by his parents and develop a basic trust that the world is good. This development will help him to see that life can be very rewarding and the world can be a good place to make good things happen. -
Middle Childhood
Sam is now 12 years old and starting to learn things about his culture and the world he lives in. He realizes he enjoys science and the outdoors so he spends his time discovering what life is and how it works. In Erikson's fourth stage of development, industry vs inferiority, Sam is encouraged by his parents and others so his enthusiasm for science grows and he begins learning more and more. -
Early Adulthood
Sam is 31 and has been in a committed relationship with Jes for 4 years so they have decided to get married. They both have their own identities and find that they blend together wonderfully. In Erikson's sixth stage of development, intimacy vs isolation, they have decided to commit to each other and become intimate rather than isolate themselves and live with out an intimate relationship.
