    Battle of the Atlantic
    The Battle of the Atlantic was the longest battle in WW2, it lasted six years. Thousands of men died, and thousand of ships sank. It ended with Germany surrendering to the Allies in 1945. This Battle caused a problem getting supplies to European country's. This was another turning point for the war because at the beginning of the Battle of the Atlantic the US had not yet joined, and this event pushed them into joining.

  • Miracle of Dunkirk

    Miracle of Dunkirk
    The Miracle of Dunkirk happened happened from May 24th to June 4th, 1940 in a small town called Dunkirk. The event was when 338,000 British and other Allied forces where waiting to evacuate to England while German forces closed in. The Problem was the beaches where too shallow for the Navy ships to come in close. They couldn't get there men of the beach fast enough.     The Battle of Britain started on July 10th, 1940. It was the first war that was fought solely in the air. It was a fight between Great Britain and Germany, over who would control airspace above Great Britain, Germany and the English Channel. This effected many lives for civilians who where under neath the fighting. it was very important who ever lost their airspace would eventually loose the war.

  • Fall of Paris

    The fall of Paris happened on June 14th, 1940. On this day France had given up, they had asked for help from the Allies but it did not come in time. Great Britain told them to hold on a little longer for the US to join, but it wasn't fast enough. This incident did annoy America though, on this day they stoped supplying Germany with goods and resources.

    Battle of Midway
    The Battle of Midway was between the US Navy and the the Japanese Navy over a major US Base on Midway Island. It happened 6 months after the Bombing of Pearl Harbor, and if Japan was successful they would have taken away the US's Naval strength for good. This battle was not only sea, there was a lot of Air fighting going on too. If Japan would have won Midway, WW2 as we know it could have ended very differently.

    D-Day started on June 6th, 1944. 156,000 American, British and Canadian troops Invaded a 50 mile long, heavily fortified part of France. This Invasion was critical to the allies. If they didn't win this invasion history might of told a different story on who won WW2.

    Battle of Iwo Jima
    The Battle of Iwo Jima was between the US Marians and the Japanese army. There where battling for control of the island which had three airfields, which could hold US aircrafts if an invasion of Japan was needed. This was a major turning point of the war because eventually US concurred the island and with it now could invade Japan. This battle was also one of the Bloodiest battles of WW2, Almost 21,000 Japanese soldiers.

  • Tokyo Fire Bombing

    Tokyo Fire Bombing
    Tokyo Fire Boming was executed by the USA's airfare on March of 1945. Fire bombing was when plans would fly over the enemy's cities and drop incindiery bombs on to them. This perticular one, on March 9th, 1945, the US draped 2000 tons of explosives and killed 80,000 to 130,000 civilians within just 48 hours. This event was brutal, it damaged Japans biggest cities and killed thousands of people.
