Rapid industrialization in Russia, as well as growth in factories caused many problems.- Poor work conditions in the factories caused many people to protest.- This plays a role because it made a lot of people realize they can, and should revolt. -
The Russo-Japanese war
In the late 1800's Russia and Japan made many agreements over the control of Korea, but Russia broke them.-Japan attacked Russia at port Arthur.- This made many people uneasy in Russia so they revolted. -
Bloody Sunday
Around 200,000 workers and their family's went to czar’s Winter Palace, they had a petition for better work conditions. Solders were ordered to shoot into the crown, hundreds were killed. This angered many people because the solders killed innocent people, so they revolted and protested. -
World War I
Nicholas II decided to take Russia into world war I but they were not ready to enter a big war like this. The bigger stronger German army also had more money for better weapons and destroyed them, they also lost to other country's. This made many more people in Russia upset, and was called the "last straw". -
Lenin returns to Russia
The Germans thought that Lenin and his supporters would create something bad in Russia. They arranged his return after many years of traveling in a railway boxcar. The Russians didn't like it so Lenin took action. -
The Czar steps down
The protests got so bad that Czar Nicholas II left his throne, and a year later revolutionaries killed him and his family. After the Romanovs were gone the Duma started a temporary government. With Nicholas II gone many people are happy that he is not in control anymore. -
Civil war rages in Russia
They now faced a new problem of beating there enemies at home, because there opponents formed the White Army. The white army was built on groups who supported Czar. This made the US send troops to help Russia but they were little help. -
New economic policy
Lenin got ride of his old economic policy and replaced it with a capitalism like policy. This allowed peasants to sell there crops instead of having to give them to the government. This helped people gain more money and control witch made people happy.
