Rosa's grandmother got very sick so she had to leave school to take care of her. Her grandmother died a month later. -

A friend introduced Rosa to Raymond, wasn't interested at first but soon came to love him. -
Fell in Love
Rosa and Raymond dated for 2 years and got married to Raymond Parks. -

Early evening of Dec. 1st, 1955, Rosa finished her work at the Montgomery Fair Department store. -
The Incident
Rosa went on a bus to ride home, as the bus was filling up with more and more passengers, the bus driver had asked her to move for the white passengers who didn't have anywhere to sit. She refused and got arrested for stepping up to police officers. -
Boycott was Started
Just after Rosa got released from jail, she decided not to pay the $14 fine to end the issue but then she began a boycott. -
The Boycott Was Successful
The boycott lasted for 1 year and 15 days. -
Rosa became more involved with the Black Rights
Rosa took place as a receptionist at first, then as staff assistant to Representative John Conyers of Michigan.Spent much of her time recording the problems of the people in Conyers´ district, Many who were black. -

Raymond Parks had passed away due to sickness. -

Rosa retired and Co-Founded The Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self-Development with her friend Elaine Steele. -
