    The seven year of war (french and indian war)

    The war started before 1756 because the British colonies in 1754 made small attacks on the French by the Ohio river. Then the French repulsed in a British invasion in Canada in 1756. In 1763 the British won and signed the treaty of Paris which ended the war.
  • Proclaimation of 1763

    The land won from the 7 years of war was west of the Appalachian mountain. The British implanted this law to prevent colonist from having conflict with the America Indians. Colonist wanted to expand west so they ignored the land and moved west.
  • Sugar act

    From the war it left British in debt and the sugar act was a way to raise money by imposing taxes on sugar and luxury goods. The British also made stricter the navigation act (mercantilism) so colonist would stop bringing "foreign" goods.
  • Stamp act

    Support funds on military the British imposed taxes on stamps on all legal papers. This angered the colonist and created the Stamp Act Congress. This reunion of the colonist chose their representative to impose on taxes or not.
  • Quartering act

    Since their is military on the colonies the Parliament decided that the colonist should feed and house the soldiers.

    Townshead act

    Raised money for the crown and input taxes on tea, glass, and paper. John Dickinson disagree and wrote to the parliament and argued about the tax. There was a change in king's minister in 1770 and repealed the act because it ruined negotiation , but still kept small taxes on tea.
  • Boston massacre

    Bostonian mad that their is guard and they gather around and harassed guards. The guards shot in to the crowd and killed five people including Crispus Attucks an African American. The guards were charge by court and called it a "massacre."
  • Committees of correspondence

    Samuel Adams idea of keeping an eye out for the British soldiers by exchanging letters. This was influenced by the Boston massacre.
  • Tea Act

    British wanted to re-established the financial problem of British East Indian Company. Parliament passed the tea act to tax tea and colonist refused to buy tea even if it was cheaper. Later the colonist started a riot the Boston tea party.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Colonist refused to buy British tea even if it was cheaper so they wont pay parliament. A supply of tea came into the Boston harbor and the colonist disguised themselves as Native American and dumped all the tea. Angered the parliament and implanted the Intolerable Acts.
  • Intolerable Acts

    King Lord North and members of the Parliament were furious because of the Boston Tea Party actions. This caused them to pass the Intolerable Acts( Coercive and Quebec Acts), Coercive Acts enforcement was close the port, reduced government power, tried in Great Britain, and British troops quarter in private homes and applied to all colonies. Quebec act gave rights to the French Canadians as in religion and set up government.
  • First Continental Congress

    All the colonies united except Georgia and talk about crisis from radical to conservative
  • Lexington and Concord

    King's government declared Massachusetts as rebellious and sent additional troops General Thomas Gage send large troops and both met at Lexington. British won forced colonist to retreat.
  • Second Continental Congress

    The congress divided into two parts; New England wanted to declare independence and the other wanted to result conflict. Afterwards resulted the colonies to take military actions.
  • Conmmon sense

    A pamphlet written by Thomas Paine that had impact on the colonist views it stated that the should break their ties with Britain
  • Declaration of Independence

    In June 7, 1776 Lee of Virginia introduced a resolution declaring the colonies to be independent. This document expressed basic principles that justified revolution.
