  • Fundamental Orders of Connecticut

    Created by English Colonists, wanting to form a new fair government. This constitution was the written constitution in America. It brought us democracy.and gave power to the people.
  • The French and Indian War

    "The Seven Years War" Both settlers wanted to colonize the Ohio River Valley. The French thought they had the right to the land. George Washington was to kick out the French. British cuts off all supplies with the French. Make the Treaty of Paris
  • The Sugar Act

    Tax on sugar and molasses and Colonist would smuggle it. American merchants did not like the act because it cost more money.It also gave them limited food. It started the growing movement of the American revolution.
  • Albany Plan of Union

    Albany Plan of Union was to unite the British North American Colonies to be under one government, but never went through.Colonies each sent representatives for a larger meeting, also known as the Albany Congress. The plan was rejected because the colonies thought they would lose all the local power they had.
  • First Continental Congress

    All colonies, except Georgia, sent representatives to a meeting to discuss the intolerable act. The colonies decided to boycott the British until they changed their laws. Washington was elected to the first continental. First continental congress was a model of our future government
  • The intolerable act

    The Boston tea party, the colonists boycott the British for their tax on tea, the colonist throw their tea in the harbor. The Intolerable act was 4 laws made. They made the Colonist house the British soldiers, which is why we have amendment number 3.
  • Second Continental Congress

    A meeting for the delegates of the 13 colonies. In the meetings they would create an army to fight the British and start figuring out our Declaration of Independence. They Elected George Washington as the Commander of the Continental Army.
  • Second Continental Congress

    The Second continental congress had a meeting with the delegates of the 13 colonies. During the meeting they created the continental army to fight against the British. They elected George Washington to be commander of the army. The continental congress helped shaped our government and army.
  • The Stamp Act

    It taxed the colonist on every single thing they printed. It also threatened their freedom of speech, the British can control what the Americans say. This is why we have the first amendment so we can have freedom of speech, ect.
  • Declaration of Independence

    The declaration of Independence was written to get their independence from the British. The King was unfair for the colonies needs. 56 people signed the Declaration. The Declaration relates to the first amendment having freedom.
  • Articles of Confederation

    The colonies first government during the revolutionary war. It was made so the government wouldn't turn into the British parliament. It was like the first constitution for the colonies
  • Magna Carta

    1215 the British used for King John to limit his power. In 1781 the Americans used the Magna Carta as inspiration gain their independence from Britain. The 6th amendment and the Magna Carta 39th clause, “No freeman shall be taken, imprisoned, disseised, outlawed, banished, or in any way destroyed, nor will we proceed against or prosecute him, except by the lawful judgment of his peers and by the law of the land.”
  • Virginia Plan

    Virginia delegates wants to make branches to make a strong central government and protect the large states from the government. They made 3 branches, judicial, legislative, and executive which we still use in our government today
  • New Jersey Plan

    Each state is represented equally. It helps the smaller states be protected from the bigger states. Congress got new powers, laws set by congress over ruled over state laws.
  • Three-fifths Compromise

    An agreement between the North and the South to count 3/5 of the slaves as population. The south wanted slaves to count as population so they could get more representative votes but they did not want to pay taxes for having more population.
