WW1 Ends
World War I ended in 1918 with Germany being deafeated. When a new government, the Weimar Republic, tried to establish a democratic course, political parties from the right and the left both struggled violently for control. The new regime could neither handle the depressed economy nor the lawlessness and disorder. -
Treaty of Versailles was signed
The victorious force punished Germany severely. In the Treaty of Versailles , Germany was disarmed and forced to pay reparations to France and Britain for the huge costs of the war. -

Hitler released from jail

Nazi takes over
Hindenburg's won the election, but Hitler received 37% of the vote. On January 30, 1933, Hindenburg offered him the chancellorship of Germany and Hilter gained absoulute power
