  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian War was a struggle over who would control the Ohio River frontier in The New world. The French and their Indian Allies fought the British (including American colonists) and their Indian Allies. The British won and closed the Ohio Valley to further the expansion in that area.
  • The Stamp Act

    The Stamp Act
    The first direct tax on the American colonies, it taxes legal papers, magazines, newspapers, and other documents. The revenue does not go to colonial legislatures but to Britain.
  • Boston Masacre

    Boston Masacre
    This was a riot in the city of Boston, Massachusetts. British soldiers fired on a group of unarmed American colonists. The incident was one of the events that led to outbreak of the American Revolution in 1775.
  • Intolerable Act

    Intolerable Act
    Parliament passed the Tea Act with the goal of aiding the struggling British East India Company.
  • Tea Act

    The East India Tea Company had too much tea they needed to sell, so Britain helped them by selling the tea to them for very cheap.
  • Boston Tea Party

    Boston Tea Party
    The Americans were constantly being taxed by king George so a group of colonists called the sons of liberty dressed up as indians and threw the Tea from Britan Into the boston harbor, nothing else, the British let them on.

    1st Continental Congress

    The first Continental Congress met in Carpenter's Hall. Carpenter's Hall was also the seat of the Pennsylvania Congress. All of the colonies except Georgia sent delegates. They all met up to discuss their response to the British "Intolerable Acts."
  • The Battle of Lexington & Concord

    The Battle of Lexington & Concord
    This battle occurred when a British force of 700 men from Boston were ordered to confiscate weapons from a militia arsenal in Concord. The British fired on a group of minutemen in Lexington, killing 8 minutemen, and thousands of minutemen came to their comrades aid and the british had to fight hard to get back to Boston. This was the beginning of the American Revolution.
  • Publishing of Common Sense

    Publishing of Common Sense
    Common Sense was a pamplet written by Thomas Paine and it helped influenced colonists to want to go to war, and eventually this caused the war to begin.
  • Townshend Act

    Townshend Act
    The Townshend Acts is a law passed in 1767 and it suspended New York's assembly until New Yorkers agreed to provide housing for the troops. It included glass, paint, lead, and tea.
