Project Evolution - Kevin Mikhaiel

  • Launch of the original iPhone

    Launch of the original iPhone
Considered by many to be the first smartphone ever, the phone was designed by Apple design team, led by Jony Ive. It was mass produced in China, but designed in Silicone Valley, with materials such as aluminum, and a black plastic accent on the back. But at it's high price, not many average people bought it, along with the fact that it was missing features other phones had.
  • The iPhone 3G

    The iPhone 3G
A massive improvement to the year older iPhone, the 3G was made of plastic backing and Gorilla Glass, and the team behind it was led by Jony Ive. It was mass manufactured by machines, and added all the features the iPhone was missing, like MMS and better signal, and GPS for half the price ($199 on contract). Many people began switching to iPhone's starting with the 3G.
  • iPhone 4

    iPhone 4
Following the success of the iPhone 4, the iPhone 4 was a new style for Apple in terms of design, with it's new square body. Still led by Jony Ive, the design team at Apple completely redesigned the body style of the iPhone 3G and 3Gs. The phone was made of Gorilla Glass on both sides, and a stainless steel around the side. It increased the phone's power and was the same price as the 3G (on contract). Normal people bought the phone because of it's price and nice design. It was mass-produced.
  • iPhone 5

    iPhone 5
The iPhone 5 was a semi-recent iPhone released with another new design overhaul, ridding the phone of the glass back on the iPhone 4 and 4s and replacing it with aluminum on the back and sides, with pigmented glass on the top and bottoms. The design team was led by Jony Ive. It was mass produced in China. It was made faster to match more powerful apps being released. With its realistic price, everyone could buy it, and many did. It didn't make too many changes, other than hardware improvement.

    iPhone 6
Completely redesigning the phone, Jony Ives' team at Apple changed everything in the phone. Adding metal bands, going full aluminum, and still at $199. It sped up the fingerprint, the CPU, improved the screen, and just overall improved the phone to keep up with other phones. It was mass produced like all phones Apple ever has and will release (probably) in China, with design's done in Silicone Valley. It is designed for everyone to have, and many people do have it.
