  • Birth of Andrew Jackson

    Jackson Born. First president to be born in a log cabin.
    Presidents before him all came from high class wealthy families.
  • Jefferson and Indians

    Took legal rights away from Indians if the state siezed their land.
    Indians complained that it was under treaty with the federal government and that it could not be taken away. Cheeroke Nation v Georgia and later Worvester v Goergia both dismissed by courts.
  • Spoils System

    During his first 18 months of office, he replaces over 900 government workers and rewarded his supporters by giving them government jobs.
  • Jackson Splits Cabinet

    Conflict over Peggy Eaton caused a split in Jackson's family and cabinet. Many cabinet members including Eaton and Van Buren resigned
  • Jackson Veto's Bank Recharter

    Jackson favored species (gold, silver, and other precious metals).
    He saw the bank as a monopoly and ordered that land purchased from the government to only be purchased in species. Saw Nicholas Biddle, the bank's president, as a threat accusing him of misusing the banks funds to support Henry Clay.
  • New Ideology

    Created a new ideology away from the old aristrocratic ideas. Estabilished more people to the west and reallocated land and did many things other presidents didn't do,
