    Pop was from the term popular and defined as popular music
  • First Pop Stars Emerge

    People like Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra are considered the first modern pop stars.
  • Rise of Rock Music

    Teens found interest in rock and roll music, and Elvis Presley became a global star. The Beatles gained much fame after Elvis, and they set the standard for pop music.
  • Modern Form Music

    Used repeating choruses, melodic tunes, and sheet music.
  • Beatles Give Influence

    The Beatles' melodies and harmonies influenced pop music in the 1970s.
  • Boy Bands Become Popular

    The 1990s was the time of boy bands. These consisted of young male singers who were given catchy lyrics and arrangements. Some of the boy bands of the '90s included N'SYNC and the Backstreet Boys.
  • Pure Pop Music Appear

    Following the death of Michael Jackson, pure pop music , as opposed to hip-hop, R&B, or rock influence, comes back after about a ten-year hiatus
  • Rise of Teen Pop

    Many teen pop singers have risen to fame during this time period, such as Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, One Direction. Many of these teen pop stars got their start on popular kids channels like Disney and Nickelodeon.
