    What might have been the most significant moment in the history of the United States was the ceompletion of the decleration of Indepence. This claimed the United States was free of Britain and layed down the frame work of how the United States would work.

    The United States doubled itself in size over night with the Louisiana purchase. according to history.org 828000000 square miles were purchased for penys a square mile.This is one of the reasons the United states makes so much money off of agriculture.

    The Alamo
    On February twentythird 1836, General Antonio Lopez de Santa arrived with and army that nearly caught the Texans off-guard. The Texans and the Tejanos worked together to defend the Alamo. The Alamo was captured but the story symbolizes people who didn't give up under impossible odds.

  • American Civil War ends

    American Civil War ends
    The American Civil War was one of the most tradgic moments in Americaan history. The south decided they wanted to create a confederacy and be independent from the United States. With this, The south also wanted to have slavery even though the north was trying to get rid of that practise. Sherman had formally surrendered his forces on April 26th, 1865. The last Confederate general to capitulate was "Brigadier General Stand Watie," who surrendered on June 23, 1865.

  • Statue of Liberty was unvieled

    Statue of Liberty was unvieled
    A French anti-slavery activist named Edouard de Laboulaye had wanted to build a statue representing freedom for the United States. The statue of liberty sits by Ellis Island in New York and was used to well come new Imigrants into the country. The French played an important role in American history with the statue of liberty and the French and Indian War.

    Great Depression
    The Great Depressions was one of the most difficult times in American history. It was the absolute worst condidtion the economy has ever been in. According to History.com There were somewhere between thriteen and fourteen million unemployed Americans. Along with this about half of the countries banks had failed. President Franklin Roosevelt was able to somewhat lessen these effts with intervention with the fedral goverment.

  • Prohibition ends

    Prohibition ends
    The 21st Amendment of the Consitituion repealed the 18th amendment. What this meant was that it was now legal to sell slchohol once again. Making alchohol illegal had an adverse effect to crime. When it was made illegal, illegal groups started selling it and eventually organized crime increased. With this there wasn't a big effect on the amount of alchohol in the country because it was easy to make.

    Pearl Harbor
    On December 7th 1941 Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese. This would be the event that brings America into World War Two. Before America didn't want to be involved in the war and only wanted to maufacture weapons. According to History.com over two thousand Americans died.

  • Rosa Parks refuses to give up seat.

    Rosa Parks refuses to give  up seat.
    Rosa Park's is well known for her protest on a Cleaveland avenue bus. Her and other activist planned on riding the bus but not giving up their seat. All of them did give up their seat but Rosa Parks. This started a huge movment and is dredited as one of the big sparks in the Civil Rights Movement.

  • John F Kenedy is assassinated

    John F Kenedy is assassinated
    During the fall of 1963, John F Kenedy was preparing for the next presidential campaign. While touring the nation for support, President John F. Kenedy was shot it the head while going through Texas. Less than an hour later police areested Lee Harvy Oswald. This was a dark time in American history because many people really liked JFK.

  • Martin Luther King Jr. is assassinated

    Martin Luther King Jr. is assassinated
    Martin Luther King Jr. did great work in promoted civil rights. Long after slavery was abolished segregation was still continued. After a great amount of peaceful protesting, muchly promoted by MLK the United States is now a much more equal country. James Earl Ray was the man found to be responsable for King's death. This was a very tragic incident following so close to JFK's assassination.

    Moon Landing
    The United States might not have been the first people into space but they were the first to have people reach the moon then return to Earth. Neil Armstrong was the first man to ever walk on the moon. when this happened it was shown on ive tv. He then said the Famous phrase "That's one small step for man, One giant Leap for mankind". He described the surface to be like charcol and the landing craft left a foot deep crater.

  • Water Gate Scandal

    Water Gate Scandal
    The Watergate scandal happened when it became appearent that individuals were trying to rig the upcoming election in favor of Nixon. Burglars were aressted inside the Office of the Democratic National Committee, located in the Watergate building in Washington D.C. They were caught trying to wire tap phones, firing uncooperative staff and steal classified documents. In 1974 it became appearent of Richard Nixon's involvement and he resigned from office.

  • Vietnam War ends

    Vietnam War ends
    The Vietname war was considered a very controversial war. IT was often protested to the point where men burned their draft cards. According to U.S.History.org about 60,000 Americans were killed. The war was considered a failure by many. The United States had superior weapons but their enemy was much more adept to fighting in the jungles they were in.

    Cold War ends
    The Cold war ended between the years of 1991 and 1992. The Soviet Union had collapsed and the U.S.S.R. had taken over. The tension had never really gone away as can be seen now with the conflicts going on in the Ukraine. During the Cold War era however, There was a lot more suspicion and parinioa between the two nations.

  • World Trade Center destroyed

    World Trade Center destroyed
    On Spetember eleventh 2001, The United States World Trade Center in New York was destroyed. The terrorist group "Al Qaeda" ceased control over United States civilian jets then Hyjacked them into the World Trade Center. With this another plane crashed into the pentagon, and another in a ield in Pennsylvania. This was a major facter that caused the wars in the middle east.
