  • Began my career as a student-Professional

Began my career as a student-Professional
I began kindergarten, and this would be the start to my student career. This impacted my teaching because throughout this journey as a student I have learned many things to do and not to do in my future classroom. I have also learned how to treat and how to not treat my future students.
  • Began dancing- Personal

    Began dancing- Personal
I began clogging, and I danced until I graduated high school. I have danced in Disney World's Magic Kingdom twice and on a Carnival cruise as entertainment. I have also danced halftime at UT Basketball games. This was such an important part of me growing up, and I dream of one day teaching clogging.
  • Met the teacher who inspired me

Met the teacher who inspired me
Mrs. Laws inspired me to be a teacher! I remember asking her in 3rd grade what is like to be a teacher. It was this year that I began playing school every afternoon with my grandmother. It was also the Christmas of this year that I asked for an overhead projector! Mrs. Laws truly made all of her students feel important and she went above and beyond her calling.
  • My parents divorced- Personal

My parents divorced, and this is okay! Life is much simpler and less tense when it is just my mom and me. After my dad left, I finally felt as if I could be me (and not have to worry about being yelled at).
  • Met Cody-Personal

    Met Cody-Personal
I met my boyfriend of seven years in 2007 :) This event is especially important to me because I know he is the one! Cody supports me in all I do, and believes in me when even I do not.
  • Graduated Seymour High School- Professional

    Graduated Seymour High School- Professional
I graduated high school with honors :) It was after this I was faced with the decision to be a nurse (what my mom wanted) or be a teacher (what I wanted deep down). I had no idea what to do, so I figured my best guess would be to please who was paying for my education....and I was wrong.
  • Changed my major- Professional

    Changed my major- Professional
I began as a nursing major, and it was not long before I realized I was meant to teach! I completed all the core classes at Walters State that must be passed to apply to the nursing program, and I sent in my application. My friend also sent her application in with the exact same grades as me, and she was accepted. I knew that the reason I was not accepted was because nursing was not the field God wanted me to be in. I changed my major immediately.
  • Graduated Walters State and began Carson Newman-Professional

Graduated Walters State and began Carson Newman-Professional
I graduated Walters State and began summer classes immediately at Carson Newman. At Carson Newman I could truly begin to develop into the teacher I am meant to be. I began learning helpful techniques and ideas from teachers who truly care. I also began teaching some of my first lessons here.
  • Began my job as a "nanny"-Personal

Began my job as a "nanny"-Personal
I began working as a "nanny" (even though it is part-time). I love spending time with Bri and Lexi! These two little girls are so important to my life, and I love watching them grow up. Lexi is 5 and Bri is 8.
  • Went to Tennesssee Special Olympics- Personal

Went to Tennesssee Special Olympics- Personal
I traveled to Nashville for the most AMAZING experience...Tennessee's Special Olympics. Everyone should experience this humbling experience. I will never forget it. This experience definitely puts perspective on how blessed we truly are.
