Charles Darwin was born on February 12, 1809 in Shrewsbury England. A famous Biologist, he set out on a voyage on the HMS Beagle to engage in scientific research. Upon this voyage, he began studying different species in different areas of the world. Henri Poincare 1854-1912
Henri Poincare was born on April 29, 1854, in Nancy France. He was a French Mathematician, Physicist, Engineer, and a Philosopher of Science. While attending college at the University of Paris, he discovered new functions that were beneficial in solving different problems in the discipline of differential equations.(Henri, 1) He further went into research into the disciplines of Topology, and non-Euclidean geometry. Alfred North Whitehead 1861-1947
Alfred North Whitehead was born on February 15, 1861. He was an English mathematician and a philosopher. (Lowe, 1) After being home schooled for many years, he started school at Trinity College, where he found the mathematical lectures to be the most appeasing. After scoring extremely high on an honors exam, he began working at Trinity as a math professor. Niels Bohr 1885-1962
If you have ever taken a Physics class, then you have heard of the great works of Niels Bohr. He was born in Copenhagen in 1885. Growing up, he developed an enthusiasm for Physics. He did his undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral studies at Copenhagen University. Werner Heisenberg 1901-1976
Werner Heisenberg was born on December 5, 1901 in Wurzburg Germany. Growing up his fascination in Physics began with the discovery of the mesotron particle, by Japanese Physicist Yukawa.(Werner, 1) After receiving his doctorate in Physics at Georg-August- Universitat, he went on to do some great research. In Physics, he won the Nobel Peace prize in 1932. It was for his work with the Uncertainty Principle that debunked Niel Bohr's work with his description of the electrons in orbits.
