    As a part of the Ottoman’s plan to expand westward, the fall of Constantinople was crucial in expanding their land. Constantinople was the capital of the Byzantine Empire, when the Ottomans took control they named it Istanbul. Istanbul became the capitol of Ottoman Empire. This gave the Empire access to a major port city and Asian trading routes

    Battle of Zonchio
    The Battle of Zonchio was fought by the Ottomans and Venice. This battle made history because it was the first time cannons were put on ships. The Ottomans were in constant conflicts with numerous Christian states in Europe. The Ottomans ended up winning most of the wars. This cause Venice’s power to decline and the Ottoman’s expansion of European states.

    Battle of Vienna
    The Ottomans wanted to takeover Vienna. The Europeans wanted to stop the expansion of Muslims to the East. Europeans wanted to prevent this so much, that Holy Roman Empire and the Lithuanian Commonwealth who were enemies, came together to make sure Muslims did not expand into the East.     The Battle of Kars happened during the Ottoman and Persian War. This war destroyed the Ottoman Army. There were massive casualties for both sides, this hit the Ottomans hard. This allowed for the Persians to take control over the Ottomans. Out of fear of defeat, the Ottomans created a peace treaty to end the war.   • Siege of Acre

    The Siege of Acre was Napoleon’s first defeat, he worked with the United Kingdom to achieve this victory. This was fought by the last of the ancient Rome and Europe. It was the turning point of Napoleon’s invasion of Egypt and Syria. He suffered defeat and mass casualties to his army.

    Algiers
    After Napoleons’s previous rule the Ottomans demanded changes to be made to the country. Charles X took this personal but he did not want to fix anything but instead started a battle. Because of a revolution of France’s king there was of a revolution and Charles X was overthrown. The Ottoman loss a large part of territory.

    The battle started when the United Kingdom captured Jerusalem. This took place during World War I. The Allies used the new resources they got from America to help take control. This cause the fall of Jerusalem.
