    Emile Reynaud opened his Theatre Optique in Paris, where he made films drawn directly on transparent celluloid.
  • Drawing

    By the early 20th century, animators could make films entirely composed of drawings
  • First Animated Film

    This film was very popular and was named: "Fantasmagorie."
  • Animation Studio

    Raoul Barre and Bill Nolan opened the first animation studio in New York
  • Rotoscope

    Brothers Max and Dave Fleischer patented the rotoscope, enabling animators to copy the movements of live action frame by frame.
  • Disney

    Walt and Roy Disney founded Disney Studios, which used fine hand-drawn films which used sound and technicolour
  • Snow White

    First feature-length animation. It also won a Special Academy Award
  • Stopmotion

    George Pal's Puppetoons demonstrated animation with clay/plasticine.
  • Computer Animation

    At the University of Utah, and man named Ed Catmull developed a method of creating computer generated movies. It used scripting language.
  • 3D

    Apple computer company produced a method for creating 3-D films.
  • Toy Story

    In 1995 Toy Story was released as the first full-length 3-D film. The animation industry would never be the same.
