Many French Canadians did not feel the need to enroll in WWI as soldiers as the war did not involve them,their country or their people. -

Francis Pegahmagabow
During the war Francis Pegahmagabow was one of the first few thousand First Nations to fight in WWI. -
Jeremiah Jones and Black Soldiers in WWI
Jeremiah Jones was one of the few Black soldiers who were allowed to enlist in WWI as soldiers, different from their usual small construction roles. He showed heroism in many different ways throughout his service. Though he had a positive impact during his service,he was still a Black man and faced racism and prejudice from the other majority white men in the army. -
Mae Belle Sampson
Sampson was one of the females who was involved in WWI. Though women were not allowed to enroll as soldiers they were there as medical aid. Sampson had worked in harsh conditions including: confined spaces and more patients than beds available. -

Returning Soldiers from WWI
Many men were coming back from the recently ended WWI many were suffering from P.T.S.D. and there were not many jobs for them to come back into. -
New Trading Partner.
As WWI had just ended Canada newest and largest partner has switched its largest trading partner from Britain to the United States. -
"Enemy Aliens"
Many people who were from Austria,Hungary,Germany Ukraine and Croatia were mistreated in fear of them being spies from their country. They were labeled and called "enemy aliens". -

The "Roaring Twenties"
This time period was known as the Roaring 20's, as WWI had just ended, everyone was happy and new technological advancements were being made throughout this time period. -
Women during the 1920's
Women had gained much in the 1920's after the war. They had gained a personal feeling of social worth,a sense of independence and they had gained suffrage (the right to vote).
