  • Mozambique Flood of 2000

    The floods started on February9 with heavy rainfall across Southern Africa. 800 people were killed. 1,400 km² of arable land was affected and 20,000 cattle were lost. It was the worst flood in the Mozambique in 50 years.
  • Pine Lake, Alberta Tornado

    The tornado formed from a severe thunderstorm. It killed 12 people and injured over a 100.
  • 2001 Gujarat Earthquake

    This earthquake had a magnitude of 7.7. It killed 13,823 people and injured over 1,670,000. It destoryed over 1.2 million homes.
  • Bam Earthquake

    On Decemember 26, 2003, a earthquake hit Bam, Iran. It registered at 6.5 magnitude. It killed 43,000 people and left 75,000 people homeless.
  • Hurricane Ivan

    Hurricane Ivan was the 10th most intense Atlantic hurricane ever recorded. It was the size of Texas and was a Catergory 5 hurricane (the strongest). It spwaned over 117 tornadoes in the US.
  • Sumatra Earthquake

    It had a magnitude of 6.8. Over 1,300 people were killed.
  • Hurricane Katrina

    It was the costliest and one of the five deadliest hurricans in the US. 1,836 people died directly from the hurricane and flooding.
  • Java Earthquake

    An earthquake with a magnitude 6.3 destroyed Indonesia's main island Java. Over 5,000 people were killed.
  • Tenessee Floods

    The flooding lasted for a week. It directly caused about 11 deaths. Many were forced to evacuate.
  • Hurricane Irene

    Irene was a Catergory 3 hurricane. Its winds reached 121 MPH. There were a total of 56 deaths.
