  • Oregon Trail

    Oregon Trail
Our small elementary school (K-7) in Grantsville, WV recieved a handful of Apple II computers. Each 6th and 7th grade classroom was given 1. We used to beg to stay in from recess to play Oregon Trail. It was a huge treat. *BING images
  • Typing Class

    Typing Class
I was in the first class at our high school to have the mandatory typing class changed from typewriters to computers in our new "state-of-the-art" computer lab. *Bing Images
  • My First Computer

    My First Computer
I used most of my graduation money to purchase a used Gateway 2000 desktop computer for college. We didn't have internet at home or in my dorm room so it was really just an over sized word processor. My mom probably still has it in a closet at home somewhere. *Bing Images
  • "Technology in the Classroom"

    "Technology in the Classroom"
I took my first "Technology in the Classroom" class in college and was hooked! *Bing Images
  • ICQ

    ICQ
I adventured into the world of "ICQ" chat rooms. I spent hours chatting with people all over the world. It was time I should have been been studying and doing homework. *Bing images
  • Online Master's Class

    Online Master's Class
In the Fall of 2004, my husband and I were moving around a lot for his job. I wanted to get my Master's but we knew we wouldn't be in one place long enough to complete a "traditional" program. I enrolled in the University of Phoenix and was able to finish my Master's in Early Childhood Education while moving to 3 different states.
  • Smart Board

    Smart Board
I was teaching on Beaumont, TX and each of our schools received a new smart board for the media center. It sat in the media center for over a year as glorified projection screen. We were finally trained on how to use it and it started being utilized correctly. Since then, every classroom that I have taught in has had some version of a smart board. I'm not sure how I could teach without one now. *Bing Images
  • Marshall University

    Marshall University
My family and I had moved to Arkansas and I couldn't find a teaching job. We also knew that we wouldn't be living there for very long. I was able to take the extra time I had at home to fulfill a lifetime dream of becoming a librarian/media specialist. I enrolled with Marshall University. I was able to obtain my graduate certificate while living in Arkansas and now South Carolina while still being a student in my home state of West Virginia.
