My Personal History

  • Family Grist Mill was Built

In 1793 my families grist mill was built in Salt Fleet, Albion Hills. The Mill had over 2000 acres of land. The mill was built at the turn of the century. It contained a tannery, distillery, saw, and gristmills. It also had a vast orchard with a variety of fruits and a prize-winning heard of an Ayrshire cattle. This mill is significant to my families life because this gave my family and many other people jobs. This gave my family enough money to move into another home close to where I live.
  • Grandpa Going to War

My grandpa was young when he went to the 2nd world war. The army was looking for soldiers and came across his house, he had learned from the previous war and wasn't too happy about it. My grandma cried for days over him leaving. This wasn't too significant to be but more of a learning experience and learning about the history of everything. It was more significant to my grandma dad, uncle and aunt because they were living in the house when he left.
  • Great Grandpa Building the Skyway

My Great Grandpa was having just a normal day at work when he saw a poster about building the Burlington Skyway. This listed the risk as well as the good pay they were getting. The skyway was a very dangerous job as 2 of my grandpa's workers fell off while building. This event is significant to everyone in my family because we always are driving on the highway and without this it would be difficult to get to some places.
  • Grandpa Building my House in Grimsby

My grandpa was associated with a group inside a church, one day they had a meeting of around 300 people. There was loads of empty land and most people weren't wealthy. The church donated materials and money for them to build and learned how to properly build. This took them over the course of roughly 5 years into about 50 houses. This impacted my life because when my family was getting money and searching for houses we had nowhere to stay and my grandpa has offered us his house to stay in.
  • Parents Getting Married

My parents were married Oct 30th, 1993 although I wasn't around one this happened this is one of the most significant events that has happened in my life. My parents Gail and Pat got married. Without my parents getting married, it sprung the thought of having me and without becoming married I wouldn't have been here. Although I wasn't here to experience this event I have watched many videos and how this small event has impacted my parent's, grandparent's and me and my sister's life.
  • Being Born

June 1st, 2003 was when my adventure began, I was born in Joe Brant Hospital at 3:43 pm. I was 9 pounds and 1 ounce when I was born and came 3 days later than expected. This is a significant event because without this I wouldn't be here typing this. Being born has affected my entire family, we have created laughing and sad moments that make us who we are today. Without this event, I don't know how my family would be today.
  • Getting Nacho

Getting Nacho may not seem all that significant but impacts my everyday life. We got him from the Oakville Humaine Society and was a very tough decision which one we would get. He was a family of 3 brothers that all looked very identical, we choose him because of his energy and his white chest. He does little things that make the bigger things better. Sometimes he is a annoying by running in front of your legs while your walking, or scaring you. Nacho has made our everyday lives more exciting.
