  • Missouri Compromise

    Missouri Compromise
    Missouri came into the U.S as a slave state in 1820, therefore the south owned that state and everything below the 36 30 line. Maine came into the U.S in 1820 as a free state therefore the north owned that state and everything above the 36 30 line. The 36 39 line is the same thing as the Louisiana Purchase territory line.
  • The Nat Turner Rebellion

    The Nat Turner Rebellion
    The Nat Turner Rebellion was a Rebellion of about slaves that were fighting to be free from slavery by killing about 50 to 55 people that included their owners and the family members of the owners. The Rebellion lasted about 2 days and was ended when the slaves were caught and executed. The impact of the rebellion was that the slaves restrictions got a lot stricter.

    In the Compromise of 1850 the North got California and slave trading was banned in D.C Also in the Compromise of 1850 the South got stronger fugitive slave laws which stopped people from helping runaway slaves, and slavery was going to be voted on in each state that was included in the Mexican Cession. Texas was annexed into the U.S as a slave state.

    The author of the book called Uncle Tom's Cabin is, Harriet Beecher Stowe and it was about what the real horrors of slavery really are. The impact of the book was that a lot more people became abolitionists.
  • Kansas Nebraska Act

    Kansas Nebraska Act
    The result of the Kansas Nebraska act was that it created a territory that went all the way north from the southern boundary of Nebraska to include all of the remaining lands of the Louisiana Purchase. What happened to the rest of the Louisiana purchase is that it was split into two groups, slave states, and free states. the free states were above the 36 30 line except Missouri and the slave states were below the 36 30 line except Missouri which is a slave state.

    Dred Scott Ruling
    enslaved people were not citizens of the United States and, therefore, could not expect any protection from the federal government or the courts is what the ruling said and dred Scott, obviously, lost the case.
  • John Brown's Raid

    John Brown's Raid
    The raid was on a federal arsenal in Harpers Ferry, Virginia. The purpose of the raid was to steal guns from the arsenal and arm slaves so that they can fight back against their masters, but the slaves refused to revolt because they were scared of getting killed or executed so the cops caught John Brown and he was hung, or executed.

    On the 1860 election Abraham Lincoln was elected. When he was elected most of the southern states succeeded from the U.S. . Also when he was elected, he immediately made succeeding from the U.S. illegal because all the southern states succeeded from the U.S. .
