Was born 1466 TenoMontezumachtitlán, capital of the Aztec empire, and the present site of Mexico City. With his father and mother whose names were Axayacatl

Montezuma becomes captain

SEP 20, 1481 Montezuma becomes captain In 1481 his Uncle Ahuitzotl took his Father's place as Aztec Emperor. Unfortunately he past away in 1486 so his brother took over. Montezuma served as captain alongside Emperor Ahuitzotl when they launched many Military campaigns

Montezuma took Ahuizotl place as Emperor.

January 29 In 1502 Montezuma took Ahuizotl place as Emperor. He then became the ninth Aztec Emperor. He had served as emperor in what is now in present day Honduras and Nicaragua.

Montezuma wanted to further expand the Aztec empire.

In 1505 Montezuma wanted to further expand the Aztec empire. So he engaged in many military campaigns that would help increase the empire. Montezuma later moved the Mixtec and Zapotec in to be under his control.

Montezuma's lovely daughter Isabel was born.

In 1509 Montezuma's lovely daughter isabel was born. She was a real heir it means { a person legally entitled to the property or rank of another on that person's death }of Montezuma. Her mother was also Montezuma's main wife, Teotlalco. She later married her Uncle who would later become Ruler.

Montezuma became a very disliked person

In the 1510's Montezuma became a very disliked person. I began ordering that a large number of victims be captured for religious sacrifices. I have started to face serious rebellions through his territories.

New people arrived and fooled Montezuma.

In 1517 new people arrived and fooled Montezuma. He thought that they were related to the gods in some way. The Spaniards were able to get into the empire without having to fight off the Aztecs great army

In Dec 25, 1519 Hernán Cortes, a Spanish Conquistador brought his men to the Aztec empire. Since Montezuma believed that the Spaniards were related to the gods he treated them well. He bought them expensive gifts.

Montezuma arranged for their comfortable stay in his palace

From that time Montezuma arranged for their comfortable stay in his palace in Tenochtitlan. They stayed as his guests for many months. Although Montezuma had to go back to ruling the empire.

Montezuma went back to ruling the empire the Spaniards had something else in mind.

By April 1520 when Montezuma went back to ruling the empire the Spaniards had something else in mind. The Spaniards took Montezuma hostage. Soon after Montezuma was killed by Hernán Cortes.
