    The founding of the empire

    A Brahmin teacher named Chanakya, destroys the Nanda dynasty, and guides a young man named Chandragupta Maurya into leading a campaign against the rulers of the Nanda dynasty. A civil war begins and they end of overpowering the Nanda dynasty. The emperor of the dynasty gives his power to Chandragupta, and that sparks the beginning of the Mauryan empire.

    Land takeover

    The macedonians attempt to take away part of the land in ancient India from the Mauryan dynasty. They fail, and Chandragupta obtains a large part of their land, increasing their empire westward.
  • 298 BCE

    Change of power

    Chandragupta's son, Bindusara, takes over the power of the empire. He expands and takes over 16 ancient Indian states, and almost all of the Indian peninsula.

    Change of power

    Asoka, Bindusara's son has to gain the power after Bindusara' s sudden death. He proves himself as a great leader. He builds up the military and the empire.
  • 262 BCE

    Mauryan vs Kalinga kingdom

    The Mauryan empire has to face off against the Kalinga kingdom for more space. Even though they win, they lost about 100,000 soldiers and citizens are killed during the battle. He decides to convert to Buddhism to find peace, and wanst it to be practiced by his people.

    Morals spreading

    Asoka begins to spread his edicts throughout the empire. The summary of them is that they outline the important teachings from him. it includes banning slavery, equal punishment under the law, and fair treatment to all animals.
  • 232 BCE

    Change of power

    There is an accident and Asoka disinherits and gives the power to his son Kunala. Asoka realizes that Kunala has been munipulating his, and takes him to court. But, when Asoka dies, there is a rule which passes the power onto his grandson, Dasaratha Maurya.
  • 190 BCE

    Change of power

    Dasaratha loses his power to Satadhanvan. The empire is continuing to lose parts of it's territory and is at a breaking point.
  • 187 BCE

    Change of power

    Brihadratha Maurya takes over the empire and gains all the power. At this point in time, the mauryan empire is losing all of it's territory and it at an all time low. Brihadratha Maurya attempts to spread buddhism throughout the empire.
  • 185 BCE

    The end of Mauryan empire

    Brihadratha is assassinated during a military event, and that marks the end of the Mauryan empire.
