    The thirteenth admenent allowed that slavery to be abolished. It also made all Confederate states, except Texas, had new goverment. They also had new constitution and later rejoined the Union.

    Freedmen's Bureau
    Provided all African Americans food, water, clothing, and freedom. It also said that African Americans could work. They could also go to schools. Northern women helped teach at these schools. It was free for anybody wh didn't know how to read or write.

    Lincon was assassanated at the the Fords Thearter. John Wilkes Booth had shot Lincon when he was watching a play. Lincon later died on the street.

    The Ku Klux Klan was a terrorist group. They would kill African Americans. They would also kill whites. Whites who supported them. It died out in the 1870's.

    Black codes were laws to control freed men and woman. This gave away their rights. It also banned them from owing farms.

    President Johnson campaigned vigorously against the Radical Republicicans. Many northerners feared clashes between whites and African Americans.The Republicans won a solid victory.

    This granted full citizenship to all Afericans Americans. This overruled the black codes. It also changed the Dred Scott decision.

    It was the creation of governments. This was in ten southern states that did ot ratify the fourtennth amendment. Tennessee did ratify it and stayed in the union.

    Prohibited the president from removing goverment officals. he couldn't do this without the senates vote. Johnson was removed from office.

    Many southerns refused to take part in congress. Thousands of African Americans voted. Republicans gained control in the south.

    Gave all African Americans the right to be a citizens. It also said that the state could not take away anybodys citizenship. If the state did not listen to this then the state would lose represention in congress.

    It made it so any state couldn't let anybody not vote to race or color, also the previous condition of servitude. Republicans did not like this. They did not like this because they did not like Africans Americans voting.

    This createdf pubnlic schools for both colored and white. These could also have been private schools also. These grew into colleges.

    Republicans withdrew all of their troops from Southern states. Louisiana and South Carolina collapsed without soldiers to support them. This was a result of the Compromise of 1877.

    Plessy v. Ferguson
    The Supreme Court upheld segragation laws. A louisiana law required seperate sections on trains for African Americans and whites. It was illegal to not have rights in public places for Aferican Americans.
